The only thing missing from a Raspberry Pico was WiFi. The new Raspberry Pico W comes with 2.4GHz WiFi 4. A strong contender to ESP32? It uses an Infineon CYW43439 chip that’s supposed to support both WiFi 4 and BLE 5.2, but BLE seems to be disabled as per the current info. Maybe a future firmware update may enable BLE too.
It's cheap at just around $7.
